7 Fabulous and Free Stock Photography Websites

Looking for free stock photography? One of the most tedious (yet important) parts of blogging and designing is finding the right image for your post or project.  While I love me some iStockphoto, truth is the price just keeps going up and the images that I always want, aren’t affordable.

If you are in need of a stock photo, try these resources first. These free stock photography sites actually have a lot to offer!

    Wait, don't pay for the stock photo! Check out these 7 free resources for stock photography. 

  • Free Digital Photos 2 of 8

    Free Digital Photos offers free photos and illustrations that can be used for business, personal and educational use.  While the images are free, you will need to buy images that you are wanting a higher resolution of.

  • Free Pixels 3 of 8

    Free Pixels offers free stock photos and images for personal and commercial use.  You will need to credit Free Pixels for the photos.

  • Morgue Files 4 of 8

    Morgue files says.. the purpose of this site is to provide free image reference material for illustrators, comic book artist, designers, teachers and all creative pursuits.  

    If you are looking for stock photography for print, this is a good resource as they do not accept files under 800 x 600 pixels.

  • Every Stock Photo 5 of 8

    Every Stock Photo offers millions of freely licensed stock photos.  If you are a frequent stock photo searcher, make sure to check out their Firefox plug-in.

  • Stock Xchng 6 of 8

    One of the most popular free stock photography websites is Stock Xchng. Getty Images recently purchased the website, hopefully they will keep the community free!

  • Compfight 7 of 8

    Compfight specializes in searching Flickr for photos that use the Creative Commons license that you are looking for. Read more about Creative Commons. Think of Compfight as your Flickr search engine. 

    Flickr has an amazing assortment of photos taken by real people and can be a great stock photography resource - but make sure to obey the license, please. Nothing is worse than your child's face appearing in an ad when you didn't want it to!

    Foter hosts over 2 million free stock photography images and even offers a Wordpress plugin for easy usage when blogging.
