Couple Allows Starbucks Customers to Choose Baby NameCarolyn Castiglia
Jennifer James, 25, and Mark Dixon, 24, couldn’t decide what to name their first child, who is due to arrive in September. James liked Jackson and Dixon wanted Logan, and rather than fight about it, the couple decided to leave the choice up to the employees and regulars at the Starbucks near the Green in New Haven, CT. The store is around the corner from Dixon’s job, and the couple know everyone who stops in there.
Last week the pair placed a to-go cup “plastered with little blue hands and feet” next to a framed sign that read: “Help us choose our son’s (first) name, Jackson or Logan,” the New Haven Register reports. At first there weren’t many participants, but in one week they received almost 1800 votes. The winner? “Logan—by far. At least by 400 or 500,” Dixon said.
As a result, the child’s name will be Logan Jackson, but other suggestions were offered by those who voted, including Obama, Jebediah, Lincoln, Webster and Chaz. Other names that might have worked: Mocha, Latte, Cap, Espresso, Americano, Cuppa, Joe, Bean.
