‘Doof Daily’ Is the Best News/Lifestyle Commentary on the Web (Video)

I adore Phineas and Ferb. I love the insane plot lines, I love Phineas’ healthy self-esteem, and I definitely love the music. And while Phineas and Ferb definitely brings more pop culture references than most kids’ shows, I was totally surprised by the edgy latest adventure of the lovably evil Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz: a weekly commentary show on YouTube.

Thirteen animated shorts are planned for the series, Doofenshmirtz’s Daily Dirt, which appears online at on Disney Video. (Full disclosure: Disney also owns

“It’s actually Doof’s Weekly Dirt,” Dr. Doofenshmirtz explains in one video. “But it doesn’t sound cool without the alliteration.”

The series has its own YouTube channel (tagline: “Just an evil scientist trying to take over the Tri-State area — and also the Internet in his spare time.”). You can also follow Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s attempt to take over the Tri-State Interwebz on Twitter (@DoofDaily), where Doof is both promoting his series and applying his warped take on the world to Twitter trends.

Doof takes on a variety of subjects, from One Direction’s hair, cats on the Internet, and viral pop music videos. On Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” (which he thinks is “Open Quantum Style”) Doof deadpans, “It appears from this video that a dumpy-looking guy can get a hot girl if he dances like a horse in the subway. Is that really all it takes? If so, I’ve been this whole Internet dating thing wrong for the past nine years. Note to self: get some Hammer pants, sunglasses, and a pony.”

Personally, I think the best thing about Doof’s Daily Dirt is the opportunity to introduce your kids to some interesting new vocab words. With Doof bringing us well-turned phrases like “speaking of existentially depressing end-of-the-world scenarios, let’s move on to the most apocalyptic topic of all, Honey Boo Boo Child.” Another good one: “I’m pretty sure we’ve reached the end of the ultimate human evolutionary cycle.”

In the latest episode, he takes on the Kardashians, bacon, and Honey Boo Boo:
