There are all kinds of videos floating around the Internet these days, some of them make us unbelievably happy, others make us sad, and others teach us amazing lessons in the span of seconds.
This video is one that will teach you a powerful lesson about what’s really going on in the world. Living in America, as most of you who read this probably do, it’s hard to wrap your brain around the devastation going on in other parts of the world. And yet it’s happening right now.
I discovered the video on Upworthy and it just completely blew my mind. It’s easy to ignore or forget what’s going on in Syria, and the video brings home what is being called one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time. It features a year in the life of a young girl, specifically, a second from every day of the year and shows the horrific impact war has on children.
The video was created by Save The Children, an independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need around the world. Recently the organization is focusing on the crisis in Syria where, as the site notes, more than 10,000 children have died and 5 million more are suffering as a result of the conflict.
The video has been viewed nearly 30 million times in just over a month and demonstrates what it’s been like for those children.
