Michelle Duggar Miscarries: How She Learned the NewsMonica Bielanko
She was hoping to learn the sex of her baby. Instead, Michelle Duggar learned she had suffered a miscarriage in her second trimester.
As People reports, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, stars of TLC’s 19 Kids And Counting learned the news today during a routine check-up to find out the sex of their 20th child.
Sadly, their doctor was unable to find a heartbeat.
“After the appointment, we came back home and told the children,” Michelle, 45, tells People.
“We had just been talking about baby names last night and they were getting excited about naming a boy or a girl. It has been a real sad disappointment.”
The family will wait to find out whether the baby was a boy or a girl and then have a funeral service. Michelle says telling her nineteen other children was extremely difficult.
“I feel like my heart broke telling my children,” says Michelle. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult. The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him.”
This is Michelle’s second miscarriage. She lost a baby during her second pregnancy and partially blames taking oral birth control. That’s one of the reasons she and Jim Bob decided to stop taking birth control and leave the decision on how many children they should have up to God.
