I have some devastating news. The American Girl doll Molly McIntire is being retired. Yes, I know, it’s going to be hard to say goodbye but all good things must come to an end, even in the doll world.
Molly has been in the American Girl doll catalog since 1986 and after 27 years of entertaining and amusing little girls with her tales of World War II era America, she will join the other retired dolls – like Samantha, Kirsten and Felicity – in the American Girl Archives.
But Molly will be especially missed, there is something about the circa 1944 inspired character doll that is so alluring and special. Maybe it is the glasses, maybe it is the school girl braids, maybe it’s her patriotic outlook. But one thing for sure, my niece sure did love her. She was part of the family.
Goodbye sweet Molly, we hope she has a grand time with the girls in the archives, she will indeed be missed. Oh, and if your family happens to have a Molly in the family, now is the time to stock up, her outfits and accessories will be available for a limited time right here.
