Surprising Crossover In the Top 10 Most Popular Baby Names vs. Dog NamesCarolyn Castiglia
I was listening to The TODAY Show in the background this morning, waiting to catch my friend Ophira Eisenberg talking about her new book Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy, when I heard Kathie Lee Gifford mention that the latest trend in dog naming is to give them human names. KLG ran down the list of the 10 most popular dog names right now, and sure enough most of them are names you could easily give a child. So I decided to check and see if there was crossover between the top baby names of 2012 and the top dog names. Based on these results, it looks like things are going to get pretty confusing in the park, especially for girls of both the human and canine variety:
As many of you know, I rescued a dog recently and we named him Buddy, the second most popular name for boy dogs. I also sometimes call him Buddy Bear or Little Bear, so check that one off the list as well. We know a girl dog in the park named Lucy and a family member has a dog named Bella, the third most popular name for a human girl. Now if only I could find a human child named Chloe with a dog named Chloe…
Do any of your babies, human or animal, have these names?
