The "Just Kidding! I'm a Kid!" Faces of 80s and 90s Sitcom StarsCarolyn Castiglia
BuzzFeed compiled a group of photos last week celebrating The “It’s Apparent I’m A Parent” Face In Family Sitcom Opening Credits. The quintessential sitcom parent look involves a lot of tight-lipped smiling and crossed arms, suggesting an air of pleasant disdain familiar to so many of us from our own childhoods. But the archetypal sitcom kid is exactly the opposite: always in some kind of quirky, wide open position reflecting the wackiness of their boldly colored denim overalls and printed rayon shirt. Sitcom kids have just been caught in the act by sitcom parents, their faces reading, “Just kidding! I’m a kid!” Here are the best from the 80s and 90s sitcoms we all loved:

Samantha Micelli 5 of 8Moody teen Samantha Micelli proves to be the exception to the goofy open pose rule, as you can see here. Sam's looking a little closed off; maybe she's got her period and is worried about bleeding through those awesome purple pants?! Interestingly, Judith Light's character Angela Bower also goes against type in the "parent faces" collection. Angela loves being a mom so much she smiles with her teeth! Or is that just the lightness Tony brings out in her?!
