‘Up’ Fan Art Further Illustrates the Sweetness of a Poignant Story (PHOTOS)

When Pixar’s Up was released in 2009, it was widely recognized as not only one of the most darling animated films ever made, but also one of the loveliest love stories ever told.

In Up, an elderly widower named Carl embarks on a quest to see the wilds of South America with the help of an explorer named Russell and thousands of balloons — all in an effort to complete a promise to his beloved late wife, Ellie.

MyModernMetropolis, a fabulous site where “where art enthusiasts and trendspotters connect over creative ideas,” recently showcased some remarkable work by artists who have taken Up to heart in the form of illustrations inspired by the film.

Each image is unique, but they’re all tied together in the warmth generated from the brush strokes and the emotion invoked therein.
