Whitney Houston Update: New Details on How She Died — Autopsy Completed

Whitney Houston With One of Her Own Grammy Awards

While the music industry movers, shakers, singers, songwriters and performers gather for the Grammy Awards at the Staple Center on Sunday night, the big topic on the red carpet wasn’t who was going to win the best new artist award but rather the death of songstress Whitney Houston.

Whitney won six Grammy Awards, was nominated for twenty-six and was a regular at the awards — performing, presenting and winning. But this year was different. While the celebrities were getting all dolled up for the big show, the autopsy of Whitney Houston was being completed. And while musicians celebrate, we now have new — confirmed — information to what happened on the night Whitney died. What was revealed?

Los Angeles Deputy Coroner Ed Winter gave a press conference, but as of now, the “official results have been placed on hold, pending toxicology tests.”

But some information was shared. No “foul play” was involved, Whitney was indeed alone when she passed away.  A half dozen prescription drug bottles were found in her room, which included Xanax — the drug many are saying played a part in her death. No illegal drugs were found in the room. And although Whitney had been drinking alcoholic beverages, no drinks were found in her room.

The cause of death is starting to look like accidental drowning. When Whitney was found, she was in the bathtub and her head was under water. They also found water in her lungs. The picture that is being painted is that Whitney had taken Xanax and had fallen asleep in the bathtub, slipped under the water, and drowned.

Truly tragic. The toxicology reports won’t be back for about six to eight weeks and then the full autopsy will be revealed.
