If there’s one thing I can appreciate, it’s a good Star Wars-themed costume. However, this dad went above and beyond to create arguably one of the best DIY Millennium Falcons.
When Dino Ignacio’s daughter, Harley, declared she wanted to be Rey for Halloween (an excellent choice!) they wanted to add a unique accessory to her costume. He noted, “The Falcon was the obvious choice.” No arguments there.
The daddy-daughter duo teamed up to create the epic costume, posting the step-by-step photos on imgur — it’s seriously impressive. The Falcon is mostly made out of foam core board, paper cups, and plastic straws. And it only took about a weekend to create. This is the stuff a crafter’s dreams are made of.
Look at that smile! Harley goes from wearing a tulle skirt to being the picture of girl power as Rey, all while creating a precious memory with her dad.
Dino and Harley did a test run of the costume at a Star Wars Reads Day event with his fellow 501st and Rebel Legion members (groups of Star Wars costume wearers). “This was her first time trooping with us. She had a blast!” he said.
Of course, Harley will be wearing the costume this Halloween (and we’re sure for many days after).
It’s safe to say that Han Solo himself would certainly be proud!
