It all started with a text sent to a wrong number — and escalated into a sweet viral moment that is warming hearts everywhere.
When Dennis Williams of Tallahassee, Florida checked his phone recently, he realized he was accidentally included in a group text filled with numbers he didn’t recognize. The message?
“We are at the hospital. Having a baby today! She has dilated to between 5-6.”
Williams, amused, wrote back: “Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number.” He thought that would be the end of it, but nope.
The grandma, perhaps just too wrapped up in her excitement to notice his response, sent a follow-up photo of her holding her grandson with the message: “7 lbs 11 oz.”
Now, normally nothing gets my goat quite like being on a never-ending group text I’d rather not be on. But there’s just something so infectious about the birth of a precious new baby that makes this so endearing — and apparently Dennis and his brother Deorick couldn’t agree more. Because instead of ignoring the text or asking again to be removed from the thread, they did something kind of remarkable — they decided to join in the festivities.
“Well I don’t know y’all but me and the boys will be thru to take a picture with the baby,” Williams texted the group. He then confirmed the hospital name and asked for their room number. Then a little while later, he came to meet the family for the first time, along with his brother Deorick and a gift for the little one.
The couple, Lindsey and Mark Knox, who had welcomed their son Cason, were both delighted and touched that the Williams brothers would make such a kind gesture to them. The accidental texter was also ecstatic, posting on Facebook: “What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this! You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know!”
How sweet, indeed.More On
