It’s common knowledge that it is hard to be a parent, but this truth isn’t always clear to our kids. Between their tantrums and snuggles (because is there ever really an in between?) it’s rare for kids to look up at their parents and say, “Wow, you’re doing a great job!”
Luckily for the Lomelino parents, their 6-year-old daughter JoJo, gets it … sort of. In this hilarious video, JoJo gives her dad Jason a serious lecture about how hard it is to be a mommy.
After critiquing her dad for the way he sent her sister 10-year-old sister Hope to bed, Jojo’s father says, “You know, it’s hard to be a dad.” This simple declaration sent the 6-year-old into a frenzied defense of how hard it is to be a mom (sorry, dads).
She notes, “Daughters think it’s so easy to be a mom, but then when they grow up they’re like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know it would be that hard!'” What an amazing realization from such a young person! Dad agrees, “It is hard to be a mom.”
JoJo nods, seemingly wise beyond her years, stating:
“It is. I mean, other kids think ‘Oh I’m going to do great stuff. I know it’s soooo easy to be a mom. Mom’s doing a great job. So that means it must be really easy, but then when them do it they’re like ‘Wow I didn’t know it would be that hard to be a mom. I don’t want to be a mom I want to be a child, it’s way easier to be a child.'”
Is this little girl 6 or 36?! I feel like she’s honestly more grounded and mature than I am! She’s basically every parent’s dream, saying, “I’m really lucky because I actually don’t really want to be in charge.”
While JoJo may only be a child, she has a serious handle on what it means to be a parent!
