A recent newborn photoshoot has gone viral after one pretty lady showed up unexpectedly.
Imagine That Photography, owned by photographer Megan Rion since 2008, specializes in newborn and children photography in Lake Charles, LA. On October 20, during 1-month-old baby Connor’s photoshoot at Sam Houston Jones State Park in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, a friendly face appeared in the background of her shot.
It was none other than local celebrity deer, Maggie.
Maggie is a beautiful, gentle deer who loves humans and corn … and photobombs like nobody’s business.
According to Rion, Maggie has been showing up in her photos since the beginning of this summer and has been seen in six other photoshoots before becoming a viral sensation. “She shows up for 5 to 15 minutes, then strolls on her way.” Rion told Babble. “There are other deer that come up with her but none will get as close.”
Rion’s assistant used an ear of corn — a prop from their setup — to coax Maggie into looking straight. “Not only did she look my way, she came up calmly [towards Connor]. I got a couple shots, then we were done [and] Maggie walked off,” Rion explained.
The result was “magical,” says Rion. In just 24 hours the photos were shared thousands of times and everyone wanted to know more about Maggie.
According to Rion, Maggie was rescued as a fawn and dropped off at the park. She was bulled by other deer for having the scent of humans on her. But as a result of her upbringing, she is hand-fed and incredibly trusting of people.
While Rion and her team have become accustomed to Maggie’s appearances, Connor’s mom Tiffany Rogers was in “awe,” according to Rion. The photoshoot was a surprise for her husband, Scott, which made the moment all that much more special.
Move over, Bambi. You’ve officially got some competition.
