There’s a possible new trend in birth announcements that will put the pink or blue stork on your lawn to shame: Special Delivery billboards.
Every first-time mom is proud to show off the child they’ve just brought into the world, yet no one is doing it quite like the Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, VA. Elizabeth Mikula, who gave birth to her first child on March 4th, was one of the first parents to debut their child on the hospital’s Special Delivery billboard. Now her daughter Laughton has become a familiar face to frequent drivers on Interstate-195.
Rest assured, the hospital abides by the patient privacy law and receives permission to use photos of the newborns. They also wait until both mother and child have been cleared to leave the hospital to post any baby photos. Additionally, only the first and middle names are used on the billboard, so families can maintain their privacy.
Mikula feels this was a priceless opportunity to share the love she has for her baby girl with all of Richmond, which we can’t argue with. It would be pretty cool to show our kids a massive billboard with their face on it later on down the road, right? Also, when we think of the things we see on billboards these days, a cute baby seems like the best way to put a smile on someone’s face on their way to work!
Would you announce your baby’s birth on a billboard?
