New Jersey Chihuahua Is Smallest Model Dog in the World

Bebe, the world's smallest model dog, is seriously cute.

Bebe, a long-haired chihuahua from New Jersey, has officially been named the smallest model dog in the world by Guinness World Records.

Bebe, who measures just 6.75 inches tall and 9.5 inches long from nose to tail, has worked as a paid model for several different companies. Bebe weighs 2-1/2 pounds, but as a puppy, was even tinier.

“She stole my heart the moment I saw her as a three-week old puppy,” owner Nikki Maksymovich said in an e-mail to me. “She looked like a mouse! She was only 2.5 oz when she was born.”

Bebe models fashions for dogs and has been seen Pet Style News and in ads for companies like Groupon, Posh Puppy Boutique, and Hip Doggie.

Bebe’s owner Nikki  is thrilled with Bebe’s recognition. Nikki blogs at Obsessive Chihuahua Disorder about Bebe and her other three chihuahuas. “The dogs always amaze me with the wonderful opportunities they have brought into my life,” said Nikki.

Bebe’s title marks the first time Guinness World Records has honored a dog in this category.
