In honor of everything sustainable, recyclable, and generally earth friendly, we rounded up 25 “green” baby buys for your baby registry.
We chose some of the bigger purchases — strollers, cribs, car seats — that you might now know are eco-friendly. Products that you’ll most likely be shopping for anyway, like baby carriers, crib mattresses, and highchairs.
Take a look at some of the most earth-friendly baby gear picks:
Bumbleride Indie 2011, Natural Edition 1 of 25Bumbleride's most recent Special Edition is made with 50% recycled exterior fabric and a bamboo-blend seating fabric that naturally (and sustainably) regulates temperature and absorbs moisture. Beyond it's eco-features, the Indie is one of my very favorite all-terrain strollers, packed with useful features — like a full-coverage canopy (with SPF 45 protection), adjustable footrest, and a front wheel that can be fixed for rough terrain or can swivel for better maneuverability.

Stokke Xplory 2 of 25The Stokke Xplory is one of the most coveted luxury strollers on the market (and, consequently, one of the most expensive), but did you know that it's an eco-pick as well? According to ecomom.com, the Xplory includes recyclable, cruelty-free materials produced with fair-trade and sustainable practices.
Buy from ecomom, $1,099.99
4Moms Origami Stroller 3 of 25The Origami stroller is one of the most innovative, techy strollers ever made — and it's also one of the most eco-friendly. You might think that a power-folding, headlight-shining stroller would be an energy-sucking eco-nightmare, but 4Moms smartly designed it with an internal generator that recharges as you walk. Moreover, the entire aluminum frame is recyclable, as is all of the plastic shielding and the rubber tires. And when you're done with the Origami, send it back to 4Moms and they'll recycle it for you.

Orbit Baby Toddler Car Seat G2 4 of 25You might not think to look for an eco-friendly car seat, but that may be because Orbit Baby's new convertible car seat is the first of its kind. This car seat is completely chemical free (including Brominated Flame Retardants, BFR), while still meeting all safety and flame retardancy standards. This is also the first car seat with fabrics certified safe by Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
To top it off, Orbit Baby is very conscious about reducing their carbon footprint (in their offices and their production), and they're launching a recycling program for outgrown Orbit products. And for the record, the Orbit Baby stroller also uses certified safe fabrics.

Monte Gliders/Rockers 5 of 25Monte makes a variety of popular gliders and rockers (like my all-time favorite, the Luca), and they're also committed to minimizing their impact on the environment. They take several steps to make their products more environmentally responsible, such as using foam made from natural seed-based oils, LEED- and FSC-approved wood and wood adhesives, and fabrics manufactured according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Even their shipping boxes are made from 95% recycled materials.

Nook Sleep Systems 6 of 25Nook's Pebble mattress is still the most innovative and safest mattress ever designed. The team of experts behind the design created a breathable, oxygen-rich sleep environment made from 100% non-toxic and natural materials (such as eucalyptus to wick away moisture, zinc to ward off mold and microbes, organic cotton to regulate temperature, and organic wool to act as a natural flame retardant). They even use non-toxic materials in their manufacturing and production.
Buy from Nook Sleep Systems, $295 - $395
giggle Better Basics Organic Mattress 7 of 25If you're registering at giggle, consider adding their Better Basics organic mattress. Made with non-toxic, non-allergenic, and easy-to-clean materials (a 100% polyethylene food-grade waterproof surface and organic cotton filling), this mattress is GREENGUARD certified while meeting all safety and flammability standards.

Kalon Studios Caravan Crib 15 of 25All products from Kalon Studios are made from sustainable and eco-friendly materials, but I'm especially partial to the colorful Caravan crib. Made from FSC-cerified domestic Maple and 100% non-toxic and/or food-safe materials and finishes, this is one of the most thoughtfully designed cribs you can buy. It's also entirely made in the U.S.
Buy from Kalon Studios, $695
Arlington BAMBAM Crib Complete 16 of 25This is a fantastic deal for a crib set that transitions from a bassinet to a big-kid bed (0 - 7 years) with no added accessories — especially because it's so safe. This is an E-Zero product, which is a global qualification that means 0% formaldehyde emissions in their wood products. The wood itself, E-Zero birch ply, is harvested from sustainable managed forests, and all glues, stains and finishes are 100% non-toxic and low-VOC. For under $500!
Buy from Arlington, $449
Spot On Square cribs 17 of 25Here's another crib company you might not know about, yet they make some of the most eco-conscious furniture in the baby market. Their company has three pillars: Sustainability, Safety, and Purity.
Buy from Spot On Square, $595
ducduc cribs 18 of 25You'll recognize ducduc for their innovative designs, like build-in bookshelves or funny phrases (like "fragile"). Yet what you might not know is that they're extremely concerned about the environment, manufacturing everything in Connecticut with sustainably harvest hardwoods, and water-based, non-toxic finishes. They're also conscious to reduce waste and energy during their production
Buy from ducduc, $1295+
Leander 19 of 25The Leander crib and toddler bed is one of the dreamiest designs for little ones, with rounded corners that provide a cocoon-like space. It's also Greenguard certified, which guarantees the chemical safety and none-toxicity of the product. Plus, the mattress cover is Eco-Tex 100 cotton. (Besides its eco-friendly and modern design, I especially love how everything is included with this crib to transition from newborn to big kids — 5 pieces of furniture in one! Even a mattress! So while it is a pricey investment, there's no need to buy a toddler bed or big-kid bed.)
Buy from inmod, $1,299
BabyBjorn Travel Crib 20 of 25Similar to the BabyBjorn Babysitter, the textiles in this travel crib have been tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 — meaning it won't irritate baby's sensitive skin or trigger allergies.
Buy from ecomom, $279.95
Stokke Tripp Trapp 21 of 25Just the fact that you can reuse this one chair from infancy to adulthood makes it a pretty smart eco buy, but its eco-factor goes so much further. The Tripp Trapp's wood comes from replanted forests with organic certification. Plus it's finished in low-VOC and water-based paints and stains — no matter how vibrant of a color you choose. Sustainable, organic, non-toxic, and reusable — it doesn't get much better.
Buy from ecomom, $249
Svan High Chair 22 of 25Another popular highchair that grows throughout the years, this Svan chair is made from bent Birch wood through an environmentally friendly process. Plus the included plastic tray is BPA- and phthalate-free.
