When it comes to pregnancy, not everyone is interested in sharing the news right away. Perhaps it wasn’t planned, maybe there’s a history of loss and the couple feels better keeping it to themselves for a while, they could be really private people or maybe there are concerns with how your job and boss will take the news that you’re expecting.
There are many situations where you want to keep it hidden, and no one knows that better than celebrity actresses. If they get pregnant in real life and it’s not written into their TV story line, people have to get creative when they try to hide the growing bump from the TV viewers. Sometimes it’s easy to spot and other times, you wouldn’t have any idea if you didn’t follow the celebrity gossip of the stars in real life.
If you’re finding that you want to hide your pregnancy for a while, just take the cues from the stars and producers and hide that bump like the do on TV. Here are a few of the ways you can make it work:
1. Always Stand Behind Something
This is used a lot in TV shows and it’s easy. Just situate yourself behind people, counters, large plants, whatever works and no one will be the wiser.
2. Carry Your Oversized Purse
It’s more than just a fashion statement or necessary for all that stuff you like to carry around, but it’s large enough to hide that bump. Just be sure to carry it slightly in front of you. It’s not uncommon to see celebs doing this in real life too, not just on TV.
3. Just Say You’re Gaining Weight
If you’re the type to gain all over, just blame it on emotional issues or over eating. This was done (with a fat suit to add to it) in Mad Men when January Jones was pregnant in real life. It was also something done on the TV show Fraiser.
4. Put Your Wardrobe Up A Size
When Sarah Jessica Parker was pregnant during the filming of the Sex in the City TV show, her wardrobe was a lot larger than it usually is. They chose pieces that hid the bump and if you’re in the same boat, just start to wear over-sized clothing. It will totally work.
5. Say You Ate Too Much
Binge eat or just say that you did and blame it on the bloat and food in your tummy. This was cleverly done in an episode of How I Met Your Mother when character Lilly was in a hot dog eating contest, but was really pregnant in real life. You don’t have to eat a lot, just always carry a giant bowl of pasta with you. No one will be the wiser.
6. Sit Down A Lot
You can take the lazy route and just come up with creative reasons why you need to be seated all the time. If people can only see your face and shoulders, they will have no idea.
7. Wear A Lot Of Dark Clothing
Dark grays and blacks can reduce the view of your curves and if paired with flowy pieces, there’s a chance no one will think anything different.
8. Just Ignore It
You can totally just pretend it’s not there and hope people aren’t rude enough to ask. This was done on Parks and Recreation and the last few episodes of Friends. You can see it, but no one really said anything. Ignore and other people will too.
