How NOT To Take The Family’s First Photo: Awkward Family Pics

Even while pregnant it’s fun to think about how you will introduce your new family member to the world once they enter it. We spend time picking out the baby’s first outfit, making sure we have the perfect announcement cards and write down the important details like weight and length.

That first family photo is one that stays with us forever. We show our family and friends, our children when we get older and we even use them for the important moments in our kids lives (like when they get married).  A photograph that you really only get to do once so you want it to be done perfectly — and not end up on Awkward Family Photos.

I have no idea what these families had in their heads as these photos were being snapped — the magical moment of introducing their new family member — but I do know these are not the way to do it.

Click through for my tips on how NOT to take that first family photo:

It's totally appropriate to have your older kids in with your family photo. It's probably best to make sure the supplies are cleaned up first.
