This just might be the best use of Photoshop we’ve ever seen.
As told to Inside Edition, Veronica Phillips’ husband Brandon, who is serving in the U.S. Air Force, has sadly missed most of her pregnancy and cannot be there for their baby’s birth. But that didn’t stop them from creating the memory they wanted.
Using a photo she had of Brandon, she asked photographer Jennifer McMahon to incorporate the image of her husband in her maternity photo shoot — and the result is absolutely stunning.
With skilled precision, McMahon positioned the photos so Brandon’s hand was right over his unborn child.
McMahon tells Babble she often does photo composites — such as adding a background to look like a newborn was really outdoors, or editing out an assistant or parent from a shot. But for Phillips’ photo, she says, “I did many edits … because I knew I wanted it to be perfect to her. I know it’s not the best photo but it’s the story that it tells that brings out all the emotion.”
No doubt, the photo has touched people everywhere, having received over 7K likes and 5K shares on McMahon’s Facebook page.
But no one has been more moved than Veronica Phillips herself. “She did an amazing job because the hand is actually on my belly, which is hard to do,” she told Inside Edition. “I teared up. It’s hard [with] him being away.”
Tomorrow, May 20, is Armed Forces Day. In honor of all the men and women serving our country, we thank you — and most importantly, we acknowledge your sacrifice.
