Let Me Introduce Myself...Lauren Jimeson
I am so excited to be a part of the Being Pregnant team and sharing my pregnancy. I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and my family so that you get a glimpse of who I am before you start reading my journey.
My name is Lauren and I am 27 years old. I live in New York City with my husband, MacKay, our 2-year-old daughter Harlan, and our two pups, Toby and Hudson. I just moved to NYC a little over a year ago from Tampa, Florida. My husband moved to the city two-years-ago, just six weeks after our daughter was born.
He received a job offer just hours before I gave birth to Harlan (yes, the call came while we were in the delivery room.) We had discussed him moving up before I did because I was a teacher and wanted to finish out the school year. Little did I know that him packing and moving away while our daughter was still a newborn was going to be the most challenging, yet most rewarding thing of my life.
For nine months MacKay traveled home on the weekends while I worked and took care of Harlan during the week. My family lives in Tampa so I had some help, but being up all night and going to work the next morning is very challenging.
Once the school year was over we packed up our house and moved to NYC so that we could finally be together as a family again. Moving from the suburbs to the city was yet another part of my life that I didn’t expect to be as challenging, but it has also been just as equally rewarding.
Shortly after moving to the city I started my blog, A Mommy in the City, to chronicle my journey from the suburbs to the city with a baby in tow. It was originally started to keep my family and friends in the loop as we moved far away, but it has turned into so much more. I have found friends, am now doing social media for companies such as Big City Moms and K.I.D.S., and writing for several mom-related sites.
Now pregnant with baby number two, I am learning to be able to juggle working from home, battling morning sickness, and chasing after a toddler, all while conquering the streets of the concrete jungle!

Hi all. The powers that be here at Babble tell me that this space exists so that you’ll get to know me better. Well then, let me introduce myself. I founded and run Alphamom.com.
Alpha Mom was started because, as counter-intuitive as it may seem, motherhood is not a natural instinct for many (many) women. This is something I discovered when I first became a mom and went through an intense period of “mother shock.” I was paralyzed with new mom fear. Full of questions. Rather than running to grandma, I ran to Google and there I learned that I was not alone.
Because of the name “Alpha Mom” people jump to conclusions and think I believe that I’m a know-it-all. Bwahaha. NOPE.
