To be safe, you should consider using contraception as soon as 3 weeks after birth, according to a new review published in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Women who are breastfeeding are very unlikely to conceive, and most women who aren’t breastfeeding won’t start ovulating again until 6 weeks after giving birth. Still, it’s possible in less time, say the authors.

That’s great information and all… but my question is… WHO is HAVING SEX THAT SOON AFTER GIVING BIRTH?

4 weeks, 5 weeks… maybe. But 3, that just seems a little soon.. I’m not sure who is doing it – but the previous notion of you ovulating sometime after 6 weeks isn’t always the case.

So lesson to be learned here: If you’re wanting Irish Twins – you could possibly get pregnant again as soon as 3 weeks after delivering. And you’ll need to use a condom for protection as most contraceptive pills you can’t start taking until 6 weeks post-partum.
