Surprise! Woman Didn't Know She Was Pregnant, Gives Birth In Bathroom [Video]

Can you imagine using the bathroom and BOOM. Instant motherhood.

I’ve seen these stories on TLC’s I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant but I don’t remember the last time one was featured on the evening news.

Yet it happened. Melissa Judd gave birth to a healthy baby boy last week but here’s the deal:  she didn’t even know she was pregnant.

I always shake my head in wonder when I hear a woman didn’t know she was pregnant, I mean, if you’ve been pregnant you know how intense it can be. How can you not know you’re got a human being growing in your body? Still, when you here what happened to Melissa Judd, you can understand how she didn’t know she was expecting a baby.

Judd tells KSDK, the NBC affiliate in Indiana, that she actually lost weight while pregnant.

“I lost weight. I lost 15 to 20 pounds,” Judd said she did not get bigger because of the pregnancy, nor did she have morning sickness or cramping. Her boyfriend agrees.

“There wasn’t any difference or any changes,” Nate Smith says. “Her mood was not different.”

Judd says the day she gave birth was just like any other day. She was cleaning her house when she felt a few stomach pains.

“I was feeling cramps so I thought I had to use the bathroom and, well, surprise!” Judd says. “I thought, ‘I’m here by myself, so I have to do this alone.'”

Twenty minutes later Judd says she delivered a baby boy who weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces. “As soon as he was out, his eyes opened and started looking around, crying,” Judd tells KSDK. “He was purple though, so I was scared to death.”

Judd wrapped the baby in a towel and ran to her neighbor’s house. “I came running to her, and I saw she had a baby in her hands and blood all over her,” Keith Bradley tells KDSK. “I’m like, ‘Where’d that come from?'”

Paramedics arrived within minutes and Judd and the baby were taken to an area hospital. Smith says he thought it was a joke when he got a call from a 911 dispatcher that his girlfriend just had his baby.

“I drove to the hospital, and sure enough, there they were,” Smith says. I would have never known. When I heard about it, I thought I was going to pass out.”

Everyone is doing just fine and even though they didn’t know the baby was on his way the couple says their little guy is a miracle and they are happy.

I’m thinking it’s a good thing Judd gave birth on her day off. Can you imagine dealing with that in the work restroom? YIKES!
