Mars Bar Mud Cake




  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2tbs whisky
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 Mars Bars
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla


Combine chopped mars bars, water, sugar and whisky in a saucepan and cook over low to med heat, stirring until all dissolved.

Sift together dry ingredients.

Quickly beat in the eggs and vanilla into slightly cooled mars bar mixture.

Add dry ingredients Pour into a 8.5 inch prepared tin and bake in 350F preheated oven for approx 55mins- check at 45mins if it’s getting brown before it’s cooked.

Cover with foil and turn oven down by 70F (this goes for any dense type cake/fruitcakes/mudcakes/baked cheese cake)

When skewer comes out with doughy crumbs, not moist, the cake is done. Wait 3-5 minutes, then turn out onto wire rack to cool.
