7 Lies Women Tell Their Friends About Their Relationship

Social media allows us to share our lives with the world. I personally discuss every detail of my dates, down to my outfit and the drinks that I guzzle. Those who are coupled up usually talk about their relationships. Update after update, couples talk about their love, their marriage and how amazing it all is.

But is it? Are women in relationships depicting the truth on Facebook and to their friends?

Many of my friends who dish on their coupledom online talk to me offline. Relationships are more than meets the eye. And women, well, we lie. We lie about our relationships. We lie about the man in our lives to girlfriends, cousins, coworkers. We fib because we want to protect our love. And we don’t want others to gossip. As Latinos say, “el que diran” (what they will say) is real and it impacts the truth.

So, I scoured social media and reflected on the truth that women present. I though about what I know to be true. Here are seven lies women tell their friends about their relationship.

Sex. Contrary to popular belief, it is a topic of conversation for women. Women in relationships especially like to talk about the act. They mostly ask questions about how often other couples have sex. Maybe to outdo one another? I've heard many married women say that they still have a very active sex life. The men may say otherwise. Photo Credit:  Flickr Creative Commons.

  • We Rarely Argue 3 of 8

Arguing is so taboo. If you argue in a relationship, people assume your relationship is doomed. The "D" word also comes to mind when someone says, "We argue all the time." That's why most women lie to their girlfriends and tell them that they get along swimmingly with their partners. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • I Would Not Tolerate Cheating 4 of 8

We've all said it. Even I've stated that I would kick a man to the curb if he cheated. But we don't always follow through. Cheating is a tricky issue. It's very personal. It scars and we shouldn't judge when a woman does not leave. Every circumstance is different. Every relationship is different. We don't know how we will cope with cheating and handle the situation until we live it. So, I understand this lie. It's what you believe to be true, and sometimes told to save face. • He Gave Me The Best Present 5 of 8

Presents! Most men get it wrong, don't they? Yet many women rave about what their honey got them for their anniversary or Christmas. What they won't tell you is that they gave their honey a list of what to buy them.!  Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • I’ve Always Loved Sports 6 of 8

I have a few girlfriends that never spoke about sports until they got with their men. All of a sudden, they're excited about the game and are rocking football jerseys. That's because they watch for their man. They won't admit it, claiming they've always been sports fans. I call fib! If you didn't talk about penalties and Triple Play's before him, you probably didn't know diddly about the game.  Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • I Wear The Pants 8 of 8

This one is a good one! So many women that I know claim to be the Queen of their jungle. He tried to go out with his friends, but I told him no! They say. He wanted his relatives to stay for a few days, but I put my foot down. Yes, women are strong. We have opinions and get things done. But many women lie about wearing the pants full time.
