7 Reasons Why I Date Men With Facial Hair

The first man that I ever found attractive was a boy. I was 12 years old. He’d been my classmate since third grade. But I didn’t notice him until his voice cracked and peach fuzz formed. All of a sudden, I found him mesmerizing. He was cute. He made me blush. I wanted him to like me. And I was often caught in a trance by friends as I daydreamed of him kissing me.

Unfortunately, the class flirt got to him first. At 12 years old, I was flat chested and chata (the Dominican slang for “flat booty.”) I couldn’t compete with Linda. I mean, her name was Linda! (Linda means “pretty” in Spanish.) Instead, I stuck to my books. I excelled academically while fawning over him from a distance. I think Linda had a baby in high school. Guess I owe her a thanks. Because she was busy with my boo, I had nothing else to do but focus on academics while she…well, you know.

This was many years ago. Yet I still long for men with peach fuzz. A little more than that, actually. I adore men that have facial hair. If you can grow it, do. If you can’t, you and I are not meant to be. I’ve even asked men that I’ve dated in the past to grow out their mustache and beards (please, for meeeee!).

I am a sucker for a goatee.

Why wouldn’t I be? A man with hair is so sexy, and then some. Don’t believe me? Here are seven reasons why I date men with facial hair.

Here ye! Here ye! Let's take this moment to acknowledge the awesomeness of more than a little fuzz. Here are the reasons why I date men with facial hair. Photo Credit:

  • It Feels Good on My Skin 2 of 8
    Soft Skin

No, I am not a masochist. I love the way facial hair feels on my skin. If I have an itch, I can scratch it. If I need to snuggle, it keeps me warm. There's just something about the feel that makes me feel oh so wonderful. Photo Credit:

  • Men Look So Manly 3 of 8

A face without facial hair is a face of a child! At least that's how I see it. Boys can't really grow facial hair. So, why not grow yours out because you can, man? Whenever I date a man without facial hair, I feel something is missing. He doesn't look as ... manly. And I love manly men. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

My father has facial hair. He always has. And since they say we tend to attract men and women who remind us of our parents (Oedipus, anyone?), it makes sense that I love men with facial hair. Think about it. The first man I loved (my father) had a full beard and mustache. All the men I've dated do too. Creepy but true. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • That 5 O’Clock Shadow 5 of 8
    Great Smile

A 5 o'clock shadow looks good on any man. I can find him so-so in appearance, and as soon as he grows a little fuzz, he looks sexier to me. Something about the shadow makes a man look more mysterious, scruffy, and hardened. Me like-y!  Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • Reminds Me of Hollywood Stars 6 of 8
    Hollywood Sign

Whenever I see a man with facial hair, I think of my celebrity crushes. Ben Affleck, Jon Hamm, George Clooney: they've all rocked facial hair. If you can remind me of any of these men, you have me in your grip. Now, rub me with your prickly hair and take me! Photo Credit:

  • I Don’t Want a Baby Face 7 of 8

If a man has a baby face, a little facial hair makes him look older instantly. My man doesn't need to look like a grandpa but I stopped dating young men for a reason. I can't compete with you in the "how old do you think I am?" game! If I wanted a baby face, I'd just date myself. And that's just crazy. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • I Like Touching It When Kissing 8 of 8

I like touching facial hair when I kiss a man. It gives me something to hold on to and pull. I am one of those kissers that caresses a man's face in the throws of passion. When I caress his face, I want to feel the skin of a man. To me, that's facial hair.
