7 Tips for Surviving Football Season With Your Man

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the playoffs and football season is now in full swing. What does this mean for women who are anything like me? (I don’t like sports!) You have no choice but to trade your man for a blowup doll. You can also say farewell to your television set. Goodbye Real Housewives, Once Upon a Time, and New Girl. Cause football doesn’t only air on Sundays!

So, what are we supposed to do? We have to cope, that’s what. You can’t give your man an ultimatum (football or me!) because he may just choose Tom Brady. What we can do is join them in our own special way.

Here are seven tips for surviving a sports game with your husband, especially that never-ending football.

7 Tips for Surviving Football Season With Your Man

How does a woman who isn't into sports cope with a man who is obsessed with football Sunday? You check out this slideshow for tips.

  • Accept His Love of Football 2 of 8

Sometimes you just have to learn to love football! That's what Yanira learned to do. "After ten years, I learned to love football, his waste of a Sunday, his playing in the AM and watching the rest of the day," she shared. "At least he is home watching it with me and not a some bar, leaving me behind." Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

My sister suggested one thing - drink! You see, her husband is so into football that he watches it year round. And it's not just the NFL. It's college football as well. Pass me a glass, sista. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • Join a Fantasy League 4 of 8

It's the latest trend - women creating their own football fantasy leagues. A friend of mind is very into it and even trash talks on Twitter during games. She's come a long way! Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • Pretend You’re Into It 5 of 8

If you don't want to join them, pretend? That's what my friend Lourdes does. She uses the fantasy football team as her pawn. "I make it a point to remind him to work on his fantasy football team before the beginning of the games," she said. "That way he thinks that I'm really into it!" He is so bamboozled. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • Pick Up a Hobby On Sundays 6 of 8

When pretending doesn't work, leave the house. Lourdes has this as a back-up plan and has now picked up baking. On Sundays, she is one with her cupcakes. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • Make It Your Personal Time 7 of 8

So you don't bake and you have no hobbies. That's when you make his sports time your personal time. Janice is married to a football fanatic. She says she takes long baths and pampers herself. And that sounds heavenly. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.

  • Become a Sports Wife 8 of 8

When all else fails, you play the part! I know, I know. But you knew how much he loved football when you dated him. You knew he would demand you wear blue (even undies) when the Dodgers play. So, just become a sports wife. My friend Lourdes has done this swimmingly. Sure, she tries to pretend and bakes on Sundays, but sports bleed into her everyday life. You see, she named her two sons Brady and Jeter. Photo Credit: Flickr Creative Commons.
