Video Captures the Sweet Moment a Couple Proposed to Each Other — at the Same Exact Time

Marriage proposals are often magical, but for Jessa Gillaspie and Becky McCabe of Memphis, Tennessee, the big moment took on even more meaning — because each of them planned to pop the question separately, on the same day!

It all happened at the Memphis Zoo during an event called “Zoo Brew,” and was captured with a now-viral video that has warmed many hearts, not to mention been shared over 4K times.

In the video, you see Jessa Gillaspie and Becky McCabe smiling and posing for a picture in front of the zoo when McCabe gets down on one knee and reveals the ring box she had been hiding behind her back.

Gillaspie’s joyful excitement is clearly evident as she screams and jumps up and down, and immediately reaches for her bag … pulling out the ring she had purchased for McCabe!

The two women laugh at the happy coincidence, and the emotion between them is evident as they embrace.

“They just proposed to each other!” the photographer exclaims.

Gillaspie tells Babble that she and McCabe met while attending graduate school at the University of Memphis and have been dating for almost two years. The “Zoo Brew” happened to be the location of their first date, undoubtedly a special place for the couple, who both decided that it would be the perfect place to propose.

Nevertheless, Gillaspie tells Babble that she was genuinely surprised when McCabe got down on one knee.

“I was just so excited when I saw her there,” she says. “It’s hard to find words to adequately describe my excitement.”

According to Gillaspie, she knew that something was up when her girlfriend asked for a candid shot. “I could feel her shaking,” she says.

It was at that moment that McCabe asked her if this time, she would go to “Zoo Brew” with her as her fiancée.

“She had been planning it for weeks and had our friend Erica in on it so she would film it for us,” Gillaspie explains.

The proposal went just as planned, and Gillaspie says she would have proposed during the event if her girlfriend hadn’t beat her to it.

“I had known I was going to propose sometime in the next couple of months,” says Gillaspie. “Being the more spontaneous of the two of us, on the day of Zoo Brew when I thought about it being our first date all over again with all of our friends there, I decided to put the ring in my purse so I could propose if/when the moment felt right (I was thinking maybe while the band was playing). Obviously she beat me to it, and the moment definitely felt right once she asked! I couldn’t believe it!”

The couple says they have been surprised by their video going viral, and touched by all of the love and support they have received.

“It means so much to us that the best moment in our lives is able to make people smile,” says Gillaspie.

We couldn’t agree more. It’s impossible not to smile at a video that shows the obvious love and devotion this couple has for each other.

As for their wedding plans, Gillaspie says: “Our top idea right now is to try to save enough money by next summer to book a big cabin in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and get married in the Smoky Mountains with those we are closest with.”

Sounds lovely. Congrats Jessa and Becky!
