This Pocket-Sized Sensor Is a Game-Changer for Anyone with a Peanut Allergy

If your kid has a peanut allergy, going out to dinner as a family isn’t always easy. Neither is sending them to their friend’s house for a play date — or anywhere else they might accidentally come into contact with peanuts in their food — without calling ahead first. Which is why we’re kinda blown away by the Nima Sensor, a new pocket-sized food tester that will help you finally breathe a little easier.

The Nima literally “takes the first bite”, letting you double-check whether or not a food contains peanuts before your child starts eating. If things are A-OKAY, the Nima will give you a little smiley face within minutes. If not, you’ll get a sad face.

There’s also an interactive app you can download that lets you share whenever you find a peanut-friendly dish near you, or discover nearby restaurants that have passed the Nima test. Pretty cool, huh?
