A few months ago I had the amazing opportunity to visit the new Bugaboo stroller headquarters in Amsterdam and see their fantastic collection of strollers, as well as their newest stroller that has just become available this summer. I’ve been a fan of Bugaboo strollers for a few years, and with two kids of my own, have definitely been interested in the different styles of strollers they make. Although there are tons of great stroller brands out there, Bugaboo was one of the first that combined style and functionality, bringing life, color, and fashion to the stroller world. When I had my first baby, I remember walking into a retail store and looking through all the strollers covered in little illustrated elephants or horribly loud baby prints. I knew there had to be something better out there. So when I learned about Bugaboo and realized they create a stroller that matches my young, modern mom style and offers high performance with a smart design? I was immediately interested.
The Bugaboo brand has grown rapidly over years as they’ve teamed up with many amazing artists and designers, including Marc Jacobs, Paul Frank, Pendleton, Viktor&Rolf, Missoni, and, of course, the most recent and iconic Andy Warhol collaboration. These incredibly fun and unique designs create a stroller that will showcase any mom’s personality and allow her to feel special and stylish, even when she’s pushing around a stroller full of babies. But beyond the gorgeous exterior, these strollers have an amazingly smart design that is parent- and child-friendly; they’re lightweight, easy to use, and unbelievably sturdy. With all the money spent on cheap and shoddy strollers over the course of your children’s young lives, you could buy one Bugaboo stroller and have it last through all of your children.
So today I’d like to introduce you to the Bugaboo gang, and let you decide which one fits your personality the very best!
The Bugaboo Cameleon3
The Bugaboo Cameleon3 is Bugaboo’s original stroller (an evolution of their Bugaboo Frog) and the most iconic of their four stroller models. This is the third-generation model, so after years of parent feedback, it has been refined and perfected. It’s an all-in-one stroller (for parents who don’t want to own a million strollers) that will take your children from newborn, with the bassinet and carseat adaptor capability, to toddler, with a regular reversible seat! If you want to make a one-time purchase and have a stroller that will last through all your kids and replace all your other strollers from joggers to umbrella strollers to regular push-along strollers, this is the stroller for you.
The Bugaboo Buffalo truly lives up to its name as a major workhorse. This super-tough, all-terrain stroller is perfect for the adventurous, world-traveling parents who need a stroller that can join them for a hike through the jungle! It has an extra-sturdy base and wheels, and folds up in one piece (rather than most strollers of its kind that break down in several pieces), so it’s easy to take wherever your dreams lead you. Plus, it has an extra-large sun canopy to protect your little adventurer from the elements. Oh, and if you get tired of carrying your bag as you’re trekking around, throw it in the large storage compartment underneath OR hang it over the handlebar (something that no other stroller in the world offers)! Who’s ready for an adventure?
The Bugaboo Donkey is the ideal solution for families who plan to have multiple children. When I was pregnant with my first, a grandmother recommended I get a double stroller so I wouldn’t have to buy a second stroller when I eventually had a second child. I thought she was completely crazy (and didn’t follow her advice), but little did I know that she was totally right. Now with these convertible strollers, you can make your stroller convert from a one-seater to a two-seater. And you can even add a wheeled board on the back for an older third child when baby number three comes along!
The design of this stroller is ingenious, with a base that slides together to become more narrow for the one seat (along with a little extra room for a thin side basket) or widens out to hold both seats. Plus, its wheels are designed for maximum maneuverability so the extra width is no problem, and even with two seats side by side, it’s narrow enough to go in and out of any entrance without a problem. Try the bassinet and regular seat option for your baby and toddler, two bassinets if you’re having twins, or two regular seats for your two toddlers. And all the seat options are reversible, so the possibilities are nearly endless!
And last but not least, the Bugaboo Bee, also known as The Urban Stroller. This is the ideal stroller for big-city parents who need something lightweight and easy to tote around while they stop in a cafe, hop on and off public transportation, or navigate through a sea of bikes and people. The brand new generation of this stroller, the Bee3, was just announced this month and is coming in September with new, smart upgrades that are more parent-, child-, and city-friendly: a larger basket underneath to carry your belongings, an extendable sun canopy for extra protection, a better harness with a smarter and more parent- and child-friendly design, an all-new bassinet option, updated fabric, and best of all, it now comes in a ton of different colors so you can mix and match your canopy and seat colors to fit your personality!
My favorite thing about this stroller is that the seat has a really amazing extendable design that allows it to grow with your child. A few clicks and the seat is longer, the back is taller, and your four-year-old will have no problem fitting in the same seat he rode in as a one-year-old. Absolutely genius. And to top it off as the perfect urban stroller, it’s super lightweight and easily collapses in one piece so any city mama will instantly fall in love with it and won’t be put out a bit as she packs that baby around town. The Bee3 will be released in September, so keep an eye out on Bugaboo’s website!
So now that you’ve met them all, which one is right for you?
