Ballerina Style: A Holiday Outfit Inspired by The Nutcracker

I have such fond memories of The Nutcracker—and ballet in general—from my early years of being a ballerina. I danced in this Christmas classic every December for many years. (I got to be Clara twice!) This year, my husband surprised me with tickets and I totally nerded out. I decided to wear an outfit inspired by the story of The Nutcracker. It was only fitting!

I would’ve worn a tutu, but I saved my husband the embarrassment and decided on the outfit below instead. Even if you’re not attending the ballet, this would make the perfect holiday outfit for any of your get-togethers.

Check out the look below!

  • My Date-Night Look! 1 of 5

Inspired by one of my favorite ballets! A flowy white dress with lace, soft pink tights with a dotted pattern, platform heels, and a side-swept, low bun to pull the look together!

  • All in the details 2 of 5

A closer look ballerina pink tights and platforms. The key to an outfit inspired by ballerinas is a lot of soft, delicate details (and maybe a twirl or two). Click through and see similar items so that you can put together your own Nutcracker-inspired holiday outfit.

This piece is the key to the whole look. For this outfit, the more feminine  and flirty your dress, the better!

I chose platforms so that I could imitate the "en pointe" ballerina technique. A classic pump or even ballet flats would also be perfect for this outfit.

Pin dot tights are super feminine and add a subtle texture to your outfit. You could also wear a solid pair of tights, but I like the overall effect of the pattern.
