The 6 Style Personalities: What Does Your Wardrobe Say About You?

It’s no secret that the way you look on the outside sends subtle (and not-so-subtle) cues about what you’re like on the inside, but did you know that there are generally six style personalities that most people fall into?

That’s what T.J.Maxx found through their partnership with the clinical psychologist and T.J.Maxx “Closetologist” Dr. Jennifer Baumgartner — who refers to this as The Six Degrees of Self-Expression.

Baumgartner certainly has a unique background, having spent 10 years as a psychologist and wardrobe consultant. And so she combined her expertise to examine physiological patterns and behavioral cues — studying how women shop, assemble outfits, organize their closets, and express themselves through fashion.

The question is: Where do you fall in the six degrees? And how can you find out? (Read on, my friends…)

What’s your style persona? See if you can guess by the following categories.

Does this description sound like you?:

“She lights up the room with her wardrobe and personality. She gravitates towards bright colors, bold patterns and lots of sparkle. If she can see it across the room, it makes its way in her cart.”

You’ll want plenty of bold colors and prints, with a variety of textures — from sequins to furs. If you had it your way, every item in your closet would make a STATEMENT.

Everything has a place and a function, and you’re probably quick to donate the pieces that don’t work. It’s about quality over quantity. (And organization, of course).

The Devoted Dresser

“She knows what works for her and works it. She’s focused and decisive inside and outside of her closet. She has her go-to pieces that she wears with confidence and organizes her closet and her shopping trips for efficiency.”

You have five of the same sweaters in different colors, and the same style jacket in various textures and patterns. When it works, it works.

The Free-Styler
