The Only 3 Outfit Ideas You Need for Thanksgiving Dinner

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s time to start planning your outfit, because obviously that’s just as important as your menu, right? No idea what to wear? Don’t worry! I’ve got you covered no matter what your Thanksgiving dinner dress code may be.

1. The “Casual Cool” Outfit

If your family is super casual for Thanksgiving, there’s no reason to not still look cute and festive! Ditch the sweats for one day and instead pull on a pair of comfortable jeans, jeggings, or leggings. These Dittos jeans are the comfiest jeans I’ve ever worn. Then, rather than a basic t-shirt, go for a cozy, oversized sweater in a festive color, like this one from Forever 21. Finish your look off with a cute pair of sneakers and a topknot, and you’ll be cozy and cute all day (and still be able to stuff yourself at dinner without having to unbutton your jeans).

2. The “In-Between Casual and Dressy” Outfit

My family isn’t super casual or super dressy for Thanksgiving — we’re somewhere in-between. If your family is the same, try this formula for a “nice” outfit for your Thanksgiving dinner. Rather than a T-shirt, choose a blouse or button-up paired with a cardigan, blazer, or lightweight jacket. Pair them with a comfy pair of pants or jeans, and then dress up the look with a big sparkly statement necklace, loose waves, and ankle boots!

 3. The “Dressy” Outfit

There’s no way my husband’s family (who we’re spending Thanksgiving with) would ever go for a super dressy holiday dinner, but a girl can dream. If you get to dress up, here’s an easy formula for a show-stopping outfit that is still comfy while you’re shoveling mashed potatoes into your mouth.

Start with a feminine but loose blouse — nothing belted or fitted since those won’t be comfy or flattering after you’ve eaten a big meal. I chose this pretty lace one from Top Shop and paired it with a burgundy leather skirt for a monochromatic look. You could also pair your blouse with a dressy pair of cropped pants or a full skirt. Complete the look with a pair of statement earrings, a simple up-do, and a pair of unexpected heels, like these gorgeous leopard ones!

So now you have no excuse to look frumpy for Thanksgiving dinner! Stay comfortable while still looking fabulous!
