In my continuing quest to either “make or make do” with my existing wardrobe for the rest of this pregnancy, I whipped up this SUPER easy DIY skirt. I have plenty of fantastic tube skirts that I wear all the time but my closet was seriously lacking when it came to looser, more breezy options. What I really wanted was a lightweight cotton skirt with a forgiving elastic waist that I could wear with graphic tees, button-downs, tank tops, and whatever else I can squeeze myself into over the next three months. Mission accomplished! This is a very basic silhouette that works with just about EVERYTHING in my closet.
Bonus: It’s a breeze to put together! All you need is a couple yards of fabric (I used a coupon and got mine for dirt cheap), enough elastic to go around your waist, and basic sewing supplies. I got everything I needed for my DIY skirt for significantly less than I would have spent buying a ready-made one from the store.
Note: Be sure to wash and dry your fabric beforehand then use your iron every step of the way. I’m a pretty lazy seamstress but I never skimp on the ironing. It makes all the difference in the finished product!
