Lost Your Key? NO PROBLEM. Meet KeyMe, An App That Stores Your Key In The CloudCecily Kellogg
This is the best app EVER. No, really. Have you ever lost a key? If you haven’t, I’m not sure we can be friends. Because I’ve lost so many keys in my life it’s ridiculous.
I don’t usually lose MY house key; I lose things like the key to garage, or my neighbor’s key and I’m supposed to go feed their fish and water the plants, or some other random key I don’t use often.
It’s very annoying. And, blessedly, thanks to the new KeyMe app, no longer a problem.
So how does it work? Here’s how they describe it on the company’s site:
KeyMe is a New York City-based startup that is revolutionizing the locksmith industry. KeyMe allows users to store, share, and duplicate their physical keys using a digital scan that is securely stored in the cloud.
Basically, you scan your key and upload it to the Keyme cloud storage. If you lose a key, you can request it by mail order or download printable instructions for your locksmith or key maker. Pretty cool, right? And if you live in New York City, you can just go to the one of the kiosks at a handful of 7-11 stores.
The app is free. So excuse me, I have some keys to scan!
