New LinkedIn Feature Shows “How You’re Connected”Cecily Kellogg
If you’re looking for a job or an introduction to someone professionally, LinkedIn just made getting connected easier. Today they rolled out their handy new feature “How You’re Connected,” a simple add-on to profile pages that displays how folks are connected to you.
Here’s how LinkedIn described the new offering:
“Today, we’re introducing a new “How You’re Connected” tool on LinkedIn profiles that aims to make that process much easier by helping you find the best path or strongest commonalities shared between you and the individual that could be the key to obtaining your next success. When looking for an introduction to someone you may not know yet, you will now not only see “who” in your network knows them on their Profile, but also “how” they know each other to help you decide the best contact to request an introduction from.”
Personally, I’ll find this tool amazingly helpful as I am a freelancer often looking for ways to be connected to potential editors and clients. Here’s how it looks (and hopefully Alison Feldmann, Editor in Chief at Etsy, will forgive my using her as an example here).
Once you click on the “get introduced” link, a window pops up offering even more detailed information.
In other words, not only do you get to see how you’re connected to someone, you can also determine who would be the best person to ask for an introduction. What a great addition to LinkedIn’s functionality!
