‘Tis the season of resolutions, motivation, and twelve months of goals lying ahead of us. Whether you’re looking to finally kick those last five pounds this year or to simply just start living a bit cleaner, a little liquid nourishment is a great way to boost your diet and start your year on the right foot. When you’re aiming to eat healthier and up your veggies, it can feel overwhelming when that means a lot more time spent prepping and cooking in the kitchen. But healthy eating doesn’t always require a mess of pots and pans and an afternoon in an apron. Sometime it is as simple as one dirty glass!

Juices and smoothies are a great way to increase your fruits and veggies, and to make sure you always have a healthy snack ready on the go. Whether you like yours creamy, fruits, or extra-heavy on the veggies – there is something for everyone and there are so many ways to customize your drink to fit your flavors and your family.

One of my toddler’s favorite smoothies is the “chocolate banana drink” his dad makes him for special treats!

Chocolate Banana Spinach Smoothie

Chocolate Banana Spinach Smoothie

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 1 large handful spinach
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 cups almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 small pinch salt

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth! Serve in your favorite glass with a colorful straw for extra fun.

In addition to making smoothies, we love pulling out our juicer as a way to use up old produce and make a quick healthy snack. For more ideas on what you can make for your family, here are ten smoothie and juice recipes to help you kick off a healthy new year…
