10 Awesome Places to Take the Family in Mexico

Grab the kids and head out for a sunny destination in beautiful Mexico. Kick back on the beach and enjoy a relaxing in the sun, while the kids splash around in the waves. Learn about Mexican culture at historical Mayan ruins and by taking a walk through the Mexican jungle.  Did I mention the food? Try tasty dishes from the Yucatan Peninsula made from traditional Mayan recipes.  I have always had a soft spot for Mexico and each time I go it seems to just get better and better. It’s a real escape that the whole family can enjoy.

  • Playa del Carmen 2 of 11

    In the state of Quintana Roo you will find Playa del Carmen. Start your adventure by wading or swimming through the water in the tunnels of Rio Secreto. Bring your waterproof camera to capture the beautiful of the stalactites and stalagmites that will surround you. Aftewards, head out on a boat tour to literally swim with whale sharks.     Grab the family and head out to beautiful Mazatlan in Sinaloa, Mexico. Spend the day at the beach parasailing or heading out on jet skis. Take a visit to the Mazatlan Aquarium to see about 200 different species of animals from around the world. You should also check out the open-air museum, Las Labradas, see rocks that show depictions of a Mexico from the past.

    On the Pacific Ocean side of Mexico you can check out the beautiful Puerto Vallarta. Spend one day exploring the historic city center of Puerto Vallarta as you walk down the Malecón promenade. Head out on a day cruise where you can go whale watching or see dolphins playing in the water. If you want to make a real splash, head to Aquaventuras Park and head down the 10 water slides, and relax in the lazy river.

This natural phenomenon dates back 36 million years ago! Afterwards, head on over to the crystal blue Misol-Ha and Agua Azul Waterfalls.     Mérida has been one of my top places in Mexico to visit (hopefully soon!). It is located in the Yucatan state of Mexico. Enjoy meals made with ingredients traditionally used in Mayan cooking.  Visit the oldest cathedral on the continent, Cathedral de San Ildefonso. On Sunday you can walk through the Sunday Fair to hear music and take part in fun activities for the whole family.

  • Puerto PeÃ�±asco 11 of 11

    Check out the small fishing village of Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point. Relax on the beach or explore the ocean on a kayak. Drive over to the sand dunes during the morning and then enjoy a golf in the afternoon. Learn about the animals living below the water at the Marine Study Center. End the day as a family on a sunset cruise.
