We’ve all been there. You’re on a long-distance flight with your baby and he is just not having it. You try everything to soothe him but let’s face it … you’re fighting a losing battle. Sometimes your fellow passengers are understanding. But other times, apparently, a brawl ensues mid-air.
Ok, so that (thankfully) never usually happens (unless this is Nordstrom) but recently it did. On an Air China flight from Chongquing to Hong Kong on Wednesday, Chan Juan Sung was flying with her baby, who was definitely not happy about it and letting everyone know it. According to Mashable, two female passengers in front of her complained that the infant was making too much noise. In return, Sung yelled back at them. At this point we’re sure things were tense enough. But then the ladies in front gave the airplane equivalent of the middle-finger: they reclined their seats all. the way. back.
Oh, hell no.
Things immediately escalated from there, with witness Xiong Wang telling the Daily Mail Online:
“I was sitting right next to them when they started telling the woman to shut the baby up,” she said. “She started shouting back at them, and before I knew what was happening she leant over the seat, and punched one of them … They were fighting, the baby was now screaming and other passengers were shouting.”
There is no one who is in the right here. The women in front should never have acted so aggressively towards a woman and her child. But the escalation to violence? In front of said child? Astounding.
Miraculously, the fight was broken up and landed on time. We don’t know if any arrests were made, but we’re willing to guess at least one of them will not be welcomed back on Air China anytime soon.
Moms, let this be a lesson to us that violence is never the answer. But we’re kind of hoping you already knew that.
