Last year, my daughter Clare and I took an incredible mother-daughter trip to South Dakota. We had so much fun that this past spring we went on another trip together to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Something about this past trip seemed quite a bit different than our first one. Clare is 7 now and it felt like I got my first real dose of having to learn how to let go. I have had many moments with all my kids where I have felt this, but something about this trip made it feel drastically different. Perhaps it’s because we got to spend three days together just the two of us? It might be because we were encouraged to break out of our shells and soar to new heights (literally).
